It is designed with the practical trainer in mind, solid where it matters, flexible enough to suit your setup, and built to be installed by a competent DIY-er or our own team.

The Essentials Walker is designed around one idea: give trainers a genuinely well-built walker at a price that makes sense.
Every component is hot-dip galvanised. Not Duragal with painted welds, proper galvanising that handles weather and lasts. The drive system runs on a belt rather than a chain, which gives a slip tolerance that prevents breakages when a horse pulls on the dividers. The turntable uses a large slewing bearing, the same concept used in cranes and excavators, so it handles real-world loads without drama.
We designed it so that competent DIY-ers can install it themselves. Walls, rubber, and walking surface are all optional, because some trainers already have rubber or can source their own walls and legs. You only pay for what you actually need.

We don’t cut corners with Duragal and painted welds. Every steel component is fully hot-dip galvanised for genuine rust resistance, built to handle years of outdoor use without giving you headaches.
We drive the turntable via a belt system rather than a chain. A belt allows us to build in a slip tolerance that prevents breakages when horses pull on the dividers. With a chain, that same load can cause failures.
Many centre pivot walkers use tension wires or cables to brace the walker arms. These can work loose over time. Our arms use a ladder frame construction with a fixed steel brace between them, nothing to come loose, nothing to adjust.
The Essentials Walker is specifically designed so a competent DIY-er can install it without us. Every walker comes with a complete fastener kit and detailed step-by-step instructions.
The dividers in the Essentials Walker are identical to those in our Premium walkers, hinged, mesh-framed, and built tough. We don’t give the Essentials Walker a lesser quality divider. These walkers are just as important as our Premium walkers.
Standard 2-metre bay widths give horses room to move naturally, reducing stress, especially for young horses still building confidence in a walker environment. We always recommend the standard width, however we do cater for trainers that prefer narrow bays.
Every Essentials Walker is fabricated in our Keysborough, Victoria workshop, built here, by our team, with Australian steel. We also support all products that come out of our workshop for life.
The centre pivot is where precision engineering matters most. Our large slewing bearing, belt-drive system, and hot-dip galvanised fabrication work together to create smooth, reliable rotation under real-world loads. Every weld is executed with care; it’s built to last a lifetime.
Every Essentials Walker is hand-built in our Keysborough workshop. Here is how we build them, from the galvanised steel skeleton through to the finished walker ready for dispatch.
The base Essentials Walker includes the entire centre pivot, arms, dividers, control box and stand, fastener kit, and instructions. Everything else – walls, rubber, walking surface – is an option. That’s intentional. Some trainers build their own walls. Some have existing rubber. We built the pricing to reflect that.
Wall frames with legs and a full fastener kit. Inner and outer gates and frames are included with the wall kit.
Want mesh inserts at the top of your walls? This upgrade adds 340mm of height above the standard wall and gives horses a visual barrier without total enclosure. It keeps horses from reaching over or testing the top of the panels. At 340mm taller than standard walls, this option is recommended for thoroughbreds.
Our rubber is 4mm UV-stable conveyor rubber, EP300-rated, stronger than the EP200 or EP250 you will find elsewhere. Made specifically for our walkers. Comes with a complete screw kit.
Cut-to-size rubber mats for the walking surface, supplied with concrete pins. The mats are anchored directly to the concrete. Available for walkers installed on a concrete pad.
The standard 2.0 metre bay gives horses room to move naturally and is what we recommend for most setups. Both options are available across all walker sizes and can be selected in the calculator below.
For the same number of horse bays, you can choose to increase the walker diameter. A larger diameter means a longer bay length and a bigger stride per revolution, giving horses more room to stretch out. This option is available for 4, 6, and 8-horse models. You can configure your preferred diameter in the calculator below.
